The second full-length album of the St. Petersburg folk ambient project Mira Drevo is dedicated to the numerous abandoned villages of the Russian North. The idea of this work came to the author during ethnographic trips inspired by the interest in Russian folklore and village culture.

In these expeditions many field recordings were collected: the stories of the elderly – about an uneasy life, war, beliefs and traditions, about what’s around and what’s inside; creaking floorboards of abandoned houses; dogs barking in the neighbourhood; rustling of spirits in the branches of dead apple trees; sounds of a cranberry swamp…

Additional recordings were made on Solovki, on the Vottovaara mountain and in the Karelian woods. Some of the acoustic instruments were captured during these trips on a portable recorder and later woven into the fabric of minimalistic synthesizer ambient. A significant contribution to the sound of this album was made by the soulful vocals of Anastasiya who sang several folk songs and lyric poems.

Второй полноформатный альбом петербургского фолк-эмбиент проекта Мира Древо посвящён многочисленным заброшенным деревням русского севера. Идея создания этой работы пришла автору во время этнографических поездок на фоне увлечения русским фольклором и деревенской культурой.

В этих экспедициях было собрано много полевых записей: рассказы стариков – о нелёгкой жизни, о войне, о поверьях и преданиях, о том, что вокруг, и о том, что внутри; скрип половиц заброшенных домов; лай собак за околицей; шорох духов в ветвях мёртвых яблонь; звуки клюквенного болота…

Дополнительные записи были сделаны на Соловках, на горе Воттоваара и в карельских лесах. Партии некоторых акустических инструментов записывались в этих поездках на полевой рекордер и уже позже были вплетены в ткань минималистичного синтезаторного эмбиента. Большую роль в звучании альбома сыграл проникновенный вокал Анастасии Харченко, спевшей несколько народных песен и лирических стихов.

На бывшем когда-то распаханном поле,
Здесь песен не слышно – щебечут лишь птицы.
Деревня уснула – и что же ей снится?

Домов-великанов прогнившие крыши –
Их время уносит все дальше…все ниже…
И окна без стекол – пустые глазницы.

Воскликнешь! – и в отзвуках тихого эха
Звенят колокольчики детского смеха,
Шагнешь – что-то шепчут, скрипя, половицы…
Деревня уснула – и что же ей снится?

Изъедены ржавчиной косы и плуги –
Когда-то любовно их гладили руки.
Забытых хозяев – забытые лица.
Деревня уснула – и что же ей снится?

И все это кажется небылью-былью…
Все помнят лишь печи, покрытые пылью,
И ветер поет песни мертвых традиций.
Деревня уснула… И вечность ей снится..."
